Another beautiful spring day

Sunday, April 28th, 2002

Another beautiful spring day out there! Good day to get the lawn mowed, not sure what type of grass we have yet but there is a good guide to how to do it at Scott’s (the turf people). We got an electric mower, easier on the ozone since our power comes from BC Hydro and is renewable. A lot of the power is sold though through Powerex which is a wholly owned subsidiary of course. It goes mainly to California to help out with their shortages.

Yet Another Beautiful Day

Sunday, April 28th, 2002

Another beautiful day in Vancouver with the sun poking out everywhere and the earth warming up the bulbs flower face in our yard. Right now there are some *huge* crimson tulips blooming along with all the tree buds expanding hourly. I expect to see a lot of people out enjoying the sunshine like myself, time to get out there! smiley face

A wet spring morning

Friday, April 26th, 2002

A wet spring morning on the west coast. Our Provincial government is busy slashing budgets – shortly after all the MLA’s got a raise and big corporations got a huge tax cut, and now the poor are really poor. Old folks homes are being closed along with entire hospitals. Schools are losing all their extracurricular activities, welfare checks have been cut by almost a 1/4 and if you are a mother you have to find a job and place your child in someone else’s hands after they turn three years old. Unemployment is no longer available to most people no matter how much money you have out into the system over your lifetime. Now the protests are starting and yesterday the police had their pepper spray at the ready when a group took over a government office. The protest was broken up and some people were hauled away to the hoosegow. But if you are an elected official, no worries mate. You will have a pension when you retire that is greater than the average persons regular income. My pension at 65 will be a grand total of about $317/month, which is a really good reason to keep up with this web development as it’s something I can do no matter how old I am.
Last night was the second meeting of the Vancouver PHP users group and things are humming right along. I volunteered to moderate the forum, pretty easy right now but this 05/ turn into a pretty big thing time wise so not sure how long it will go on but we shall see.

Awful hard to sit here

Tuesday, April 23rd, 2002

Awful hard to sit here and try to get some work for The Healthy Brain Project going, glad I did all the updates last night and just have to start plowing through new references.
The sun is just shining a little too warmly according to Earth Crash Earth Spirit but I’m going to get out in it anyways. The old Schwinn needs a new chain but going to give it a shot after I get some cheap shoes. According to the Death Clock I’ve only got until Marchth, 2012 so gotta get as much fun in as I can eh! smile
Awesome afternoon! Went for a real nice break in ride around Pacific Spirit Regional Park. Bike chain held, didn’t push it though and it really should get some nice lube on it even if it’s time to trash it and get a new one.

Earth Day

Monday, April 22nd, 2002

Earth Day! Dubya will be trying to get a photo op out of the deal, while the protesters are chanting in the background. Looks like they are trying to get some more of their team elected come November. Our local hockey team, the Canucks were can nots last night as they lost to Detroit. Still a game ahead tho….
Getting some content/links in the panels on the sides now, but should get to some actual paying work and get some typing done for the Healthy Brain Project. Blogging to start with sucks up a ton of time but looks like it’s just a matter of getting a schedule for surfing content.
