Tuesday’s child is full of grace, and hopefully this day will be the same for me. Garry from upstairs has started packing his stuff up finally and this place is looking like someone is getting ready to move. Wes is out tomorrow night, and it’s me the night after.

My landlord upstairs, Garry (with 2 r’s), had his yardsale finally today. Looks like he is going to get put out the most because of the sale of the house, but that’s just a relative thing though. He’s house-sitting at two different places for a couple months which gives him plenty of time to find something permanent.
My own contribution of things I’ll never use consisted of the gout chair that Dad gave to me ages ago, a hanging ceiling lamp, and a fan that hasn’t been needed since down-sizing to basement suites. It just doesn’t get that warm in Vancouver unless you happen to live on a top floor, sunny, apartment and then it’s just for a few days a year. The lamp looks destined for the alley, just too ugly to put a price on it.
It was a busy back-yard as the gates front and back opened, literally a horde of 30 or so people crashing in, some pushy and clutching their favorite items while still trying to paw through the rest of the junk looking for something that they might of missed. After an hour of madness, things slowed to a dull roar and by 11:30am Garry was looking a little worn out. I helped carry a bunch of stuff down this morning, and he’s got company that’s doing clean-up so all he needs to do now is count his money. Went pretty good for him all together I think; not everything sold of course, but the big ticket dressers and furniture is gone – a Good Thing ™.

And the weekend is just around the corner. TR Trades has a driver off on holidays for a wek, so I’ll be getting a full day for five days. Not really looking forward to it, (8 hours is a long time driving the city), but my own car needs brakes really, really bad so the money will come in handy.
Another hike tomorrow! This time it’s up the Garibladi Mountain Volcano. Getting good at packing the night before now with a bit of practice, it’s an early start from Scott’s place at about 6 am.

So far so good at TR Trades, no accidents or mistakes in the deliveries. I did leave the building once and forgot a package, but just got down the street and was able to go back and get it right away. Not really liking that I’m missing my afternoon nap, still going to bed too late and getting up too early and counting on that couple extra hours in the afternoon.

First day on the job this morning, and going into work I was about 3 or four inches away from getting the first marks on the paint job of my Mazda. The power was out all over the Kitsilano area, and everyone was doing the four way stop procedure for the traffic lights. When it came to my turn, I started out across the intersection with a woman in a black car beside me in the other lane.
We had crossed all the way over to the other side when wham! – she got t-boned. Her car spun around and I turned to the left to avoid her while braking and miraculously missed her car. Someone in a suit had not even slowed when he noticed there was no traffic light in operation – just plowed right into her. No one was hurt luckily, and the guy that caused the accident ended up with the most damage to his car.
Oh yeah, the rest of the day went pretty well for me too! No missed deliveries and not too much trouble finding the places. Hardest one was a construction site with no one in the trailer to sign for the package – another one was when I couldn’t find an address and turns out I had parked right in front of the place – lol! Nice easy work though, way better than stacking boxes at UPS.
