Who Hijacked my Religion?!

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

One day left until the traditional end of summer, Labour Day and 9/11 questions and the sun just keeps on shining away, a little too much for Tofino with a smaller tax base than our little island and less fresh water to draw from so they are telling tourists to not bother. Regardless of any controversy over whether humans caused it or global warming even exists, (seems real to me too), it’s getting less and less like a rain forest in this part of the world. I’ve yet to see a summer here that I could call hot as it rarely gets above 80 degrees Fahrenheit here, but sure feels like it’s coming, and sooner than anyone expected.

YouTube.com is just crammed full of videos now, everything from the sworn testimony of a computer programmer that wrote what he thought would be a prototype for Congressman Tom Feeney to rig an election to good Muslims like Rzaa trying to spread the word that their monotheistic religion is pretty much the same as any other monotheistic religion. I’m glad he’s trying to show that the propaganda we hear about “Islamofacists” and other made-up words from those in control of the mainstream media are nonsense, after all 1.5 Billion people can’t be all terrorists and his reference to the “Cops” style TV shows is priceless.

What Is The REAL Threat to Peace?

Sunday, August 27th, 2006

The media in North America won’t translate or print what Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s speech on Saturday said, as there wasn’t anything to take out of context like his remark about wiping Israel off the map, which is a mistranslation itself from what I can gather from those that know the language.

A person can believe what they want, but the reality is that Iran has not launched a war of aggression, (they were defending themselves against Saddam of Iraq who was getting his lessons and supplies from the USA at the time), in a century while the two nations who create such agitprop against Iran have been in several wars started by themselves for dollars and resources.

Juan Cole has the translation, and here’s what he has to say about it:
Ahmadinejad said, “Iran is not a threat to any country, and is not in any way a people of intimidation and aggression.” He described Iranians as people of peace and civilization. He said that Iran does not even pose a threat to Israel, and wants to deal with the problem there peacefully, through elections:

“Weapons research is in no way part of Iran’s program. Even with regard to the Zionist regime, our path to a solution is elections.”

Ahmadinejad seems to be explaining what his calls for the Zionist regime to be effaced actually mean. He says he doesn’t want violence against Israel, despite its own acts of enmity against Middle Eastern neighbors. I interpret his statement on Saturday to be an endorsement of the one-state solution, in which a government would be elected that all Palestinians and all Israelis would jointly vote for. The result would be a government about half made up of Israeli ministers and half of Palestinian ones. Whatever one wanted to call such an arrangement, it wouldn’t exactly be a “Zionist state,” which would thus have been dissolved.

The schlock Western pundits, journalists and politicians who keep maintaining that Ahmadinejad threatened “to wipe Israel off the map” when he never said those words will never, ever manage to choke out the words Ahmadinejad spoke on Saturday, much less repeat them as a tag line forever after.

There’s more debunking of the propaganda if you click on the link at the beginning or here. I’ve known more than a few Muslims and Iranians in my time and have never heard any hatred from them for anyone, but the hateful propaganda that is spewed out by the religous right and neocons of amerika and their mainstream media has been incessant since the old cold war ended.

Bowfest 2006

Saturday, August 26th, 2006

The 11th annual Bowfest Celebration is today, with the “Run For The Ferry” 10k kicking it off as usual. Right after the awards ceremonies for that event they have the Parade down Govt. Road, a free event and as always J.P. leading the parade. This year’s theme is “Medieval Faire” so the leader of the parade got to dress up like a king and everyone following were in some sort of Medieval costume, except of course for the Korean dancers that were dressed in their traditional garb which may go back to before Medieval times.

The rest of the day is at Crippen Park, it’s usually about a ten dollar entrance fee which is about ten dollars more than I have to my name, so I’ll just read about it later in the Undercurrent next week. My teeth/mouth has been quite painful the past few days anyways with the left side of my face being fairly swollen, so it’s probably just as well to stay home.

The weather is cooperating for them really well this year, a wee sprinkle of rain earlier in the week and nothing but sunshine since. Staying inside anyways, watching the parade it felt like it was 40 degrees out - which is really weird as it’s never got to the point here where I would call any day a “hot” one, my internal thermometer is messed up it seems from the teeth thing.

Like a deer in caught in the headlights

One nice thing about being a poor proletariat is that when things get really bad it’s not a whole lot different than when they were good, there is just so much less to lose.

The impending economic disaster coming for North America shows no sign of letting up yet, another 9/11 won’t help the economy like it did last time, and with the populace as a whole becoming more informed over the past few years and wondering what really happened, it’s going to take an awful lot of Diebold voting machines to keep the Republican incumbents in office.

Reading between the lines for this month’s Market Watch commentary points to the scam perpetrated back in 1913 to create a private, fiat money supply for a country via the Federal Reserve as lasting just about 100 years.

The amazing parts of the situation N.A. is in to me, is that after Kennedy said the Federal Reserve is a scam and he was a couple days away from signing the bill to go back to the pre-1913 gold standard sans the Fed he was killed, and the power of live television allowed the real story to stay buried. And it has taken over three decades for someone to put out a documentary outlining the Federal Reserve and what has happened since that fateful day just before Christmas in 1913.

I’m Toast

It’s about time to get out of the hosting and web development business for me. It takes a lot of people on a lot of servers to really make any dollars out of it, and it’s just not like me to go after those people and dollars. On the web development side, it is nothing but a constant stream of jerks that want to pay almost nothing for the knowledge that took years to accumulate. Unless you’re in a corporate situation you get ripped off every now and then like I was this month, and end up with nothing to show for your efforts and wondering where the dough for smokes and next month’s rent is going to come from.

It was an interesting run, went a long ways from dBaseII and my first inventory and sales program written in BASIC in the 80’s, to where I am now. Learned a lot along the way about the internet, but mostly bored with it now so it’s time to move on to something different.
