Find the latest video from David Smith of Crippen Park and Bowen Island fame over at You Tube; listen to: Bald Headed Lena and if that’s not enough there’s more banjo playing at his My Space page.
Found the nicest little spot in the alley to park the Mazda GLC, tucked in just a little bit further than the others, not under a tree or other bird perch and noticed the street light is right overhead too. Half unpacked and answering emails the morning after getting back to the city from the centre of the universe, and there’s a reconciliation of sorts from the board of directors for my caretaker position.
It’s not a bad deal, there’s hope that my immediate boss will be kept on a bit shorter leash when it comes to taking advantage of my good nature and it’s just up to me to watch out for traps. Waste of a good storage deal at Public Storage, though the new xhtml/css work coming in is making up for that empty space. And nice work it is too, the designer is very up to date with the Web 2.0 gradients, curvy corners and all that latest neato stuff for web site presentations.
One of the best things to come out of the temporary loss of my free apartment in downtown Vancouver, is that the TV got sent to a better home to live out it’s last couple years before the switch to HDTV format for everyone. It was a nice TV, 29″ Panasonic that was top of the line in it’s day and the new user had almost the exact same model but the sound was starting to go wonky on it.
I had set my Shaw Cable bundle to be cancelled at the end of the month anyways, and now am on a new plan that’s just internet only and saving a good chunk of change in the process. Not missing the TV at all, it’s been a few years since there was anything decent on it anyways with maybe the exception of Corner Gas, The Trailer Park Boys, and the Red Green Show. Pre-noTV watching was a lot of the news channels otherwise, and they have become the worst for simply espousing the corporate/government party line and about the farthest thing from informative journalism that one could get.
The good stuff is available on the net anyways, news casts with a bit less government control like the CBC and Newsworld have video streams where it make sense to be able to see the actual event and for the latest distraction the MSM has what they think we need to see too. It isn’t hard to fill my time without TV, but one of these days may get a large screen when I get around to feeling I need to have my first ever DVD player or new generation game console.
