The Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG) has an HTML 5 Working Draft dated 14 August 2007 on their web site now. Lots of interesting things in there, backwards compatibility to be achieved and we’ll still be dependent on the server spitting up the correct mime type. A read of the FAQ will probably bring most people up to speed, it’s going to be about 2022 or maybe earlier, 2018 until the W3C takes the specs to a recommendation.
