Dogs Missing
Monday, November 19th, 2007Internet day, so the first stop is always the comics and Monty’s visitor from the year 2525 sheds a light on the future of consumerism. Nice day yesterday doing the ferry, bus, skytrain, and bus to south Vancouver to meet up with a client for some updates to a web site. Relatively minor stuff, but major for her in that it was a matter of using her same words essentially but with better marketing flair and the newly worded home page I presented was well received. Also reworked the HTML to modern CSS table free, semantic and Google friendly standards, a simple header-two-column-footer layout to begin with. Ran through the other pages this morning, and once again in the good position of waiting on the client for more content.
Meanwhile closer to home just after that a crises has been happenning all weekend without knowing about it. The Bowen Island Marina dog, “Jack”, and his buddy “Shadow” have flown the coop sometime Saturday. Last seen somewhere near the end of Taylor Road, they took off for a romp and haven’t been seen since. A likely scenario for many dogs on the island not watched closely enough, is they were chasing a deer and either got stuck down on the beach (deer usually run uphill though) or the younger of the two just wore the older out and are stuck/injured somewhere else.
Soon as I knew about it, I made up a poster for copying at The Office that we can laminate and spread around, they could be anywhere by now really. Also happening is a four wheel drive dispatched to go up the steep road to the property they should have been on, and a skiff sent out to comb the shoreline below. Hope they are all right, Jack is 11 years old now and the younger dog could have just run him ragged. On Mondays after a weekend visit, he can barely move from his arthritis and the workout the day before with his buddy and it’s cold out there this am with snow at higher elevations.
UPDATE: Both dogs have been found, seems they went up an old logging road and back down and not finding their humans dug in for the night. Don’t know if today’s location was the same as last night, under a tree in dry tinder and keeping close and relatively dry.
