Good News?

airplneAmazing how much idiotic programs like the current airport security systems contribute to the affluenza and consumerism; on the CP this morning a report that in Montreal’s Trudeau airport alone, four metric tonnes of confiscated goods are collected every week along with 600,000 items a week at Toronto’s Pearson airport.

Quite the grand opera being played out with a jar of peanut butter, shaving cream, sunscreens, and tubes of toothpaste being taken away from intrepid travellers because those types of innocuous goods may be dangerous in the hands of the scary man with a beard. As noted by a BC’er in TO, the travellers themselves know this is a farce, but go along with the government and security authorities in perpetuating a giant fraud.

Is this collective insanity or just apathy? Must a complete lack of common sense be employed to travel long distances in a hurry? And the compliant media reports a “good news” story that at least these dangerous goods are going to “street people”.
