Sunny Sundays

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

Just doing a little Sunday night surfing and checking up on the status of the rest of the world, and it’s still not looking good at all for those living down south when the banks in Bangladesh are making loans to ‘mericans. No one is taking wheel barrows full of money to the store for a loaf of bread yet, but there’s no sign of the foreign investors sticking around to see the bottom and the ones caught with hands in the cookie jar are getting bailed out by their taxpayers. And we’ve yet to see even the first layers of the rotten onions of their government get exposed in their own media. Perhaps they will get over their fear someday.

Over the hills and across the ocean, Kosovo is having a cold winter as always but people are packing the streets to declare their independence while Russia declares it’s illegal making Kosovo and Serbia two dispensable chess-pieces of EU/NATO and Russian plans. If that wasn’t tension enough, the Middle East is still roiling with Israel’s genocide on the Palestinians and Iran gets another step completed with their new oil bourse.

Everything is hunky-dory on Bowen Island though, and time for dinner after a beautiful sunny Sunday. Earlier helped the neighbour up the hill get the truck up the driveway and then spread some new wood chips around the floor of the chicken house, nice cup of coffee and after trying the driveway loop snow pack and failing, backed down to the secondary driveway to get down again.

Freecycle

Friday, February 15th, 2008

Spring is springing out all over here now, and stayed a night at the marina lot and another at the library where the internet connection is better, and now back to house sitting again. It’s a repeat client near beside the building centre so once again just a few steps to that job for about a month or so.

Finally heard back from the freecycle.org people with the B.C. moderator sending a questionnaire about the area and myself, and awaiting a response again. Seems they are careful in how they dole out areas, which can only be a good thing.
