Safer Than Ever

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

Read an editorial from a sane parent that has not succumbed to the constant drum beat of fear fed hourly onto the psyche of the North American people. Quite an amazing thing really to have MSNBC pick this up with an interview (video) and article,  Mom isn’t about to cave in to the “expert” at the interview and refreshing TV for a change, they should be doing a lot more of that.

High On The Ridgetop

Settled in to the new place far above the rest of the islanders, the spectacular views from what is one of the highest homes on the island over looking Howe Sound can only be further described as stunning. The elevation takes you to the height of the rainbows, and saw the entire arc of one up close the second night here. Downtown Vancouver was behind the brilliant green stripe, reminded me of the Emerald City of Oz.

The dogs and one cat are just a little older, easy enough charges for the older two but the younger canine can still act like a puppy easily enough and needs training, and is happy to get the direction needed so all is good on the end. We went on a hike down the trail that leads to Dave’s old campsite and then on to Cates Hill and down to the Post Office. A lot of other dogs out, nice sunny day today with a promise of more to come, but too much to process for the pup in hand and with the long trek back up the hill was happy enough to pick up a GST check and then come straight back.

Never cared much for his music, but have enjoyed Mathew Good’s writing for quite some time now – his latest blog post on the grief, war and the cost of it all.
