With all the deer on this island, if the “big one” hit the fan there would be venison to eat for at least a few days. Can’t help but think that the city slickers around these parts though would be getting up to trying the same thing as this West Virginian did: “it looked good on paper”!

It Looked Good On Paper
Friday, May 30th, 2008Uncle Walt
Wednesday, May 28th, 2008The only uncle on Moms side was Uncle Walt, he died Monday May 26 of a cancer that had spread throughout the brain, kidney, liver and spleen at 69 years young. He lived most of his life ranching in the Chilcotin, and as the only son eventually took over from Grandad when he passed away, and had what most people would call a healthy life style.
Not sure yet when the funeral services will be, Chilcotin time is even more abstract than Bowen Island time and last I heard it may be a couple weeks, something about the cows had to be moved and who knows how long that could take, they only move so fast without ruination. My lifestyle lets me go anywhere at the drop of a hat so will be there no matter what, brother John will be coming up from Seattle too so will hitch a ride with him. Seems the last time I was in the Chilcotin was for yet another funeral.
